From the desk of Chairman / Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC Kargil

Growth and development remains a basic need of a society from its beginning to make the life easier and it has never an end. It is just a matter of passage of time that differentiates the backwardness of the past and developed things of the present. A man has to go ahead.

It was the beginning of a new era for development and growth of the district in every field when the government commissioned the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil in the year 2003. I feel great pleasure that people trusted me to be served as a member of the council and now it is my duty to come upto their expectations.

It was said that “Political freedom is incomplete without economic and social freedom”. There is still a lot of scope to boost the economy of our area which may cater the un-employment.

My Govt. is committed for equal development of all sections of the society and it will be our top priority to hold over the increasing un-employment by ensuring more and more chances in all employment sectors. Besides, there are other basic issues like Civil Air Service and extension of the Kargil Airport runway, Tunneling of Zojila Pass, Diversion of Drass River into Suru, completion of Chutuk Hydal Project etc. some of these works are under completion process and some are still to be initiated. But I assure, all that have been dreamt by the people for development are being processed and we expect positive outcome for initiation of these projects.

Education remains one of the basic concerns since initiation of life and till now people have come up over the hardship they have faced during the past decades to some extent. There is still a lot of works to do for our downtrodden and backward area to live a better life and give a better future to our net generation which is only possible when education is spread unto the extreme level. Thanks to the Centre and State Govt. who has introduced special schemes whether in the Education sector as “Serva Shiksha Abhiyan” or in Rural Employment Sector as “National Rural Employment Generation Act” in addition to various other centrally sponsored schemes to be implemented at grass root level.

The present Government is striving to overcome the challenges and hope for success but it is all possible when every people will have a sense of responsibility towards development on whole.
